Onion Creek Club carries a storied legacy as one of Austin’s most historic and beloved golf destinations, founded on the belief that great golf should be both challenging and welcoming.
Onion Creek Club is one of Austin’s most historic golf communities, featuring 27 holes across 225 acres and a welcoming club lifestyle built around golf, connection, and year-round social experiences for members and their guests.
Established in 1974 by Austin native Jimmie Connolly and legendary golfer Jimmy Demaret, Onion Creek was designed to follow the natural beauty of the land—an approach Demaret summed up best: “Nature put it here, all I did was manicure it.” In the mid-1990s, Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore helped shape an additional nine holes, completing the 27-hole layout enjoyed today.
With a legacy that includes being the “Birthplace of the Senior Tour” and hosting LPGA Tour events, Onion Creek remains a championship-caliber venue—serving today as a host site for the UIL State Championships, elite junior competitions, and as a qualifying site for the Men’s U.S. Open.
With elegant indoor spaces and scenic outdoor backdrops, the club creates a memorable, timeless atmosphere for celebrations of every size.
With scenic views, versatile rooms, and a welcoming atmosphere, the clubhouse serves as the social heart of the club experience.
With a layout suited for players of all levels, the course delivers both challenge and enjoyment in an authentic Hill Country setting.
From junior programs to casual dining and poolside fun, the club creates experiences that bring families together and make every visit feel like time well spent.
