Fully Restored Tournament Course Ready for May's Insperity Invitational; Player Course and Clubhouse Upgrades to Follow
DALLAS (April 29, 2026) — One year after acquiring The Woodlands Country Club, Arcis Golf is well on its way to delivering on its commitment to invest more than $30 million in the 99-hole private club, highlighted by a comprehensive restoration of the Tournament Course ahead of this year's PGA TOUR Champions' Insperity Invitational presented by UnitedHealthcare, to be played May 8-10.
The investment comes as the club, located 30 miles north of Houston, prepares to host one of the deepest fields ever in the 23-year history of The Insperity. The award-winning 54-hole tournament will be televised on Golf Channel.
The prestigious lineup includes seven World Golf Hall of Fame members, and nearly 20 players who have won major titles on the PGA TOUR, with 30 wins among them, including Bernhard Langer, a four‑time winner at The Insperity; seven-time PGA TOUR Champions winner, Stewart Cink, who will begin defense of his 2025 title next week in The Woodlands, along with four‑time major champion Ernie Els, who has a longstanding relationship with Arcis Golf through the company’s support of the Els for Autism Foundation.
“From the beginning, our goal at The Woodlands was to honor its rich history while investing thoughtfully in its future,” said Blake Walker, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Arcis Golf. “This transformation is about creating the best possible golf and club experiences for our members, while ensuring the Tournament Course continues to stand among the premier championship venues in the country.”

Led by Beau Welling Design, the renovation focused on restoring the original design character while upgrading performance and playability to modern standards. The 7,025‑yard, par‑72 layout—originally designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge and opened in 1978—hosted the PGA TOUR’s Houston Open in the mid‑1980s.
All the greens were rebuilt to bring back their original shapes and refine contours to accommodate today’s faster green speeds. Putting surfaces were also replanted with Tif‑Eagle Hybrid Bermudagrass, which will deliver consistency, firmness, and durability both in championship play and for member rounds.
Additional enhancements included resurfaced and expanded tees, cart path and bridge repairs, selective tree removal to improve turf health and sightlines, and restoration along the edge of the pond on multiple holes.
“The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course has proudly been home to The Insperity since 2008 and has continued to set a new benchmark for championship golf on the PGA TOUR Champions, while respecting the history and tradition of the facility,” said Bryan Naugle, Executive Director, The Insperity. “Arcis Golf has honored the course’s rich legacy while elevating it to meet the expectations of today’s game. We’re proud to continue our partnership and excited to showcase this exceptional venue when the greatest names in golf return here next week.”
Since the renovation was completed, Walker noted that club momentum has continued to build, reflecting renewed excitement and confidence among the membership in the club’s future direction.
Arcis Golf's long-range plan for The Woodlands extends well beyond the Tournament Course. Player Course renovations -- including restoration of original green contours, rebuilt bunkers with modern liners, and fairway adjustments to improve playability for all levels -- are planned for later this year. Work on the Tournament Clubhouse begins this summer, with enhancements at the Palmer and Player facilities to follow. The Tournament Clubhouse renovation will introduce reimagined dining, bar, fitness, and social spaces designed to serve members and families across every occasion.
A transformed “Hall of Legends” will celebrate the club’s heritage with a modern gallery approach, while private dining and lounge areas will offer intimate, design‑forward settings for meetings and celebrations. Outdoors, the two‑level Tournament Terrace expands the social footprint with sweeping course views, fireside seating, and flexible lounge zones designed for both high‑energy events and relaxed everyday use.
The Tournament Fitness Center will introduce a holistic environment that balances high‑performance training with club-level comfort. Carefully zoned spaces are planned to support everything from strength and group fitness to recovery and rejuvenation.
“The Woodlands Country Club represents one of the great private‑club opportunities in the country,” Walker said. “While restoring championship golf was a critical first step, the evolution of the clubhouses is what truly brings the vision full circle. From the courses to the social spaces, fitness and dining, every investment we’re making is about creating a more connected, welcoming, and enduring club environment. We’re incredibly excited about what lies ahead for our members and the community.”
