Gene Sarazen changed the game twice — once with a club, once with a single swing.
Sarazen was the first golfer to win all four of the modern majors — the U.S. Open, the PGA, the Open Championship, and the Masters — a career grand slam that stood alone for years. Seven major titles in all, from a man who turned professional as a teenager and never stopped competing.
In the final round of the 1935 Masters he stood in the 15th fairway needing a miracle, took a 4-wood from more than 200 yards, and holed it for a double eagle — the “shot heard ‘round the world” that forced a playoff he won and put a young tournament on the map. Off the course, he reshaped a sand wedge with extra bounce that every golfer alive still relies on.
The Sarazen cottage is built the same way: quietly brilliant, and ready for the moment.
