DALLAS, Texas August 17, 2016 — An extensive clubhouse renovation, coupled with significant improvements to the golf course, the creation of a new fitness center and wellness studio, and a resort-style pool renewal have resulted in a vibrant transformation of Eagle Brook Country Club, an Arcis Golf property in Geneva, Ill.
Just 45 minutes from downtown Chicago, Eagle Brook Country Club’s superior golf and amenities, impeccable service, and family-friendly ambiance have earned it a place among the best private clubs in the state. Under the direction of Arcis Golf, which acquired Eagle Brook Country Club in 2015, every aspect of the club has been enhanced.
The recently completed renovation – a $2.5 million project that began in January – includes wide-scale upgrades to the clubhouse. The open floor plan for the newly named “Sanctuary Kitchen & Cocktails” bar and dining area features scenic views of the golf course from every vantage point as well as a new four-sided bar and striking carved-wood lighting fixtures that are both illuminating and eye-catching. The dining area’s new name is a tribute to the golf course’s participation in the Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program.
“The transformation of the clubhouse has been amazing,” said Eric Pratali, general manager of Eagle Brook. “It gives us a new identity. It is modern, but seems so natural, with a spacious, inviting feeling. We not only opened up the interior space, but now as soon as you walk into the clubhouse, you see views of the golf course.”
Sanctuary Kitchen & Cocktails has been created to rival the best steakhouses in Chicago, Pratali said. “It is a modern and vibrant gastro pub, with an upbeat casual environment. We offer a diverse, seasonal menu, along with an array of specialty cocktails, an eclectic selection of wines, and micro brews.”
Among the other distinct dining options at Eagle Brook are a dramatic private wine room – designed to host intimate events and family celebrations – as well as a new fireplace lounge and a more intimate dining area away from the bar, keeping in mind the membership’s diverse social activities and needs.
The main ballroom also has been revitalized, as has the club’s outdoor wedding venue with spectacular views of the course, which together make Eagle Brook the most distinctive full-service wedding destination in the Fox Valley, for gatherings of up to 300 guests.
The addition of a new state-of-the-art fitness center is a huge boost for member activity. Equipped with top-of-the-line Cybex aerobic and strength training equipment, elliptical and weight machines, this new area promises to be well used by members, according to Pratali. A separate classroom is set up for group fitness classes—to be led by certified instructors in yoga, Pilates, spin, and Zumba—as well as sport-specific training for golf and tennis.
The swimming pool area was refurbished with all new resort-style furniture and umbrellas. “Members really enjoy relaxing in this area and the ease of pool-side food and beverage service,” Pratali added.
Established in 1994, Eagle Brook’s links-style golf course was designed by two-time U.S. Open Champion Andy North, with Roger Packard, to blend into its natural surroundings. Large stands of mature trees frame rolling fairways and greens, with 92 acres of preserved wetlands adding to the course’s strategic diversity and beauty. Eagle Brook is among the premier clubs for the region’s tournaments and corporate events.
Upgrades to the course targeted a number of holes, including the signature 18th, where flagstone retention walls at the green complex add a visual effect. Newly planted trees and wetlands improvements will help preserve the sand hill cranes, geese, ducks, deer, coyotes, and endangered alligator snapping turtles that golfers are used to seeing while on the course.
Arcis Golf has allocated $50 million in major capital improvements to its portfolio of 68 public and private facilities nationwide – six in Illinois – an indication of the dynamic direction the Dallas-based company is taking. Arcis Golf is committed to providing amenities that complement its many diverse playing experiences, while exceeding the needs and expectations of its members, their families, friends, and guests of all ages.
“Arcis Golf has invested a lot to make Eagle Brook a complete club,” Pratali said. “We are more than a typical country club, with offerings for the entire family – from golf, a swim program, tennis, fitness and social experiences.”
